Universe: The Grinch
Debut: How the Grinch Stole Christmas! (book, 1957)
The Grinch is an unpleasant, "Who-hating" grouch with a wicked temper, sour attitude, depressed judgment and a heart about two sizes too small, and is always out to ruin something. He lives high above the Whos in Who-ville on Mount Crumpit, with his dog, Max.
Trivia
- The Grinch is the second Dr. Seuss created character to be included in Chronicles of Illusion (the first being The Cat in the Hat).
- Before his book debut, the Grinch made an early appearance in the May 1955 issue of Redbook, in a 32-line poem called "The Hoobub and the Grinch".
- In the 2000 live-action feature film, the Grinch is played by Jim Carrey, better known for his acting work on various other movies, such as The Mask and the Dumb and Dumber films.
- It is also revealed in said movie that the Grinch started to hate Christmas after his school classmates humiliated him when he tried to shave his face. Though, in the 2018 CGI film, he has spent the holiday season alone and unwanted in an orphanage.
