Debut: Sonic the Hedgehog CD (1993)
The robotic doppelgänger of Sonic the Hedgehog created by Dr. Eggman, and undoubtedly his deadliest creation yet. Metal Sonic was built for the sole purpose of destroying Sonic and mostly serves as Eggman's obedient and silent enforcer. Metal Sonic is an intelligent machine with a very dark side. A cold-hearted, aggressive and ruthless killer, he is obsessed with proving his superiority to Sonic and eliminating him for good to the point where he has rebelled against Eggman more than once to achieve his goal.
Trivia
- In Chronicles of Illusion, Metal Sonic appears in his original design, rather then his slightly updated design from Sonic Rivals 2.
- The original design was chosen for use of his official sprites from Sonic CD, Knuckles' Chaotix and Sonic Mania.
- James Smith originally wanted to be the voice of Metal Sonic in Chronicles of Illusion, but was denied by MollyKetty, as she wanted to keep the character mute.
- Metal Sonic is the second most recurring villain in the Sonic series, behind Dr. Eggman.
- In Sonic Heroes, Metal Sonic (in his Neo, Madness and Overlord forms) is voiced by Sonic English actor, Ryan Drummond, and Japanese actor, Jun'ichi Kanemaru.
