Gravity Falls is an animated series created by Alex Hirsch. It centers around twin siblings Dipper and Mabel, who are spending the summer at their Great Uncle (or "Grunkle" for short) Stan's Mystery Shack in Gravity Falls, Oregon. However, as it turns out, tons of paranormal activities occur in the town of Gravity Falls, ranging from vicious gnomes, cursed wax sculptures, elderly spirits, and a interdimensional dream demon named Bill Cipher.
The show debuted on June 15th, 2012, and ended on February 15, 2016, lasting two seasons, 40 episodes, 17 shorts and a special. Since its premiere, Gravity Falls received positive reception from critics and audiences alike. Kristian Schaal, the voice of Mabel, even won an Annie Award for her voice work on the show. The success of the show spawned DVD releases, a promotional deal with Subway, a toy line by Jazwares, and a video game for the Nintendo 3DS, amoung various other merchindise.

- Gravity Falls creator, Alex Hirsch, previously worked as a storyboard artist for Fish Hooks and the Cartoon Network series, The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack.
- In June 2014, Gravity Falls was placed at #7 on WatchMojo.com's top ten hated Disney animated shows for being dark, stereotypical, and inappropriate for kids. This has angered fans of the show.
- However, it was later listed on their top ten shows of the 2010s in May 2015.
