"Chapter 18: Trouble in Gotham City, Part 1"

In the dark city of Gotham, Dick Dastardly and Muttley rob the bank, but are stopped by Spider-Man. Espio and Leonardo have a battle. Superman, Wonder Woman and Sonic meet up with Batman.

Meanwhile, Tails and Amy are looking for Sonic in Green Hill Zone. The Illusion Mistress meets with Molly Ketty's arch-enemy, Cheiva, while she's on vacation.

Trivia

• This is the only episode to be released in 2017, as well as the first episode to be released in nearly ten months.
• This is the last episode to be released in the 2010s, and to use the second version of the third intro sequence.
• The episode marks the first new appearance of Batman since "Chapter 2: The Mystery of the Illusion" and Leonardo since "Chapter 5: The Evolution".
• Dr. Eggman and Molly Ketty are mentioned in the dialog.
• Freddy Krueger from A Nightmare on Elm Street is mentioned by Muttley during his mumbling.
• The episode is dedicated to the memory of actors Joe Alaskey, Alan Young, Janet Waldo, Gene Wilder, C. Martin Croker, Florence Henderson, Van Williams and Carrie Fisher, who all died in 2016.

Production notes and errors

• Almost all of the voice acting was done before the episode even started production.
• The episode went through three release date delays due to slow development.
• The sound effect of Espio turning invisible was changed in the full episode.
• The fight scene with Espio and Leonardo took the longest to make.
• In the fight scene with Espio and Leonardo, a few scenes were remade to add motion blur effects.
• In the scene where Espio is talking to Leonardo, both of Leonardo's kitanas are on his back before he puts them up.
• Crabmeat was going to appear in the episode, but was removed.
